Prof. T. Swarupa Rani

Prof. Tenali Swarupa Rani has been serving as the Principal of St. Joseph’s College of Education for Women, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, since 2012. She is also the current Dean of the Faculty of Education at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur. She Possess an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, along with an M.Ed, M.Phil, and Ph.D. in Education, and is also a qualified UGC-NET holder in Education. With an illustrious career spanning over 35 years, she has made significant contributions in the fields of teaching, academic administration, and educational leadership. In addition to her institutional responsibilities, Prof. Swarupa Rani serves as an External Member on the Boards of Studies of several esteemed universities, including Sri Padmavathi Mahila University (Tirupati), Adikavi Nannayya University (Rajahmundry), Andhra University (Visakhapatnam), Rayalaseema University (Kurnool), and Dravidian University (Chittoor). Her contributions to academic quality assurance are notable�??she is a Member and Chairperson of the NAAC Peer Team, a Member of the NCTE Visiting Team, and serves as a Subject Expert for the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). Under her mentorship, 27 Ph.D. scholars and 28 M.Phil scholars have successfully completed their research. She has published 35 books and authored 114 research articles. Prof. Swarupa Rani has successfully completed three major research projects funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Additionally, she has guided two Post-Doctoral Fellows and two international research scholars, along with one Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship awardee. She also serves as a Research Director for scholars affiliated with Acharya Nagarjuna University, Madurai Kamaraj University, Mother Teresa Women�??s University, and Annamalai University. Prof. T. Swarupa Rani has been the recipient of several prestigious awards in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of education. She was honored with the Savitri Bai Phule Award by the UNESCO Club for her excellence as a Best Teacher Educator. Additionally, she received the Visishta Seva Puraskar, also from the UNESCO Club, acknowledging her distinguished service in the academic domain. Further, her dedication and academic achievements earned her the APJ Abdul Kalam National Pratibha Award, presented by SPLTO.

It gives us great pleasure to present this volume, a curated compilation of scholarly papers on Psychosocial Competencies for Global Youth, This is a significant initiative by St. Joseph’s College of Education and GCPA aimed at fostering holistic development and well-being among young people across diverse cultural and socio-economic contexts. This compilation represents the collective wisdom, research insights, and practical frameworks shared by experts, scholars, practitioners, and youth leaders around the world. The society always needs psychosocially competent individuals who can function effectively in all life situations, and contribute meaningfully to the society. Adapting to a world characterized by globalization, mutual interdependency among nations, fast-changing technology, culturally diverse global workplaces, and changing market-place demand for the acquisition of competencies that empower today’s individuals. This rapidly evolving global landscape marked by complex challenges-ranging from mental health issues and digital disruption to social inequality and climate anxiety-strengthening psychosocial competencies has emerged as a vital imperative. Empowering youth with global psychosocial competencies” with a set of skills related to emotional regulations, Self-awareness, critical thinking interpersonal communication, social awareness, ethical reasoning, resilience, and empathy enabling them to navigate complex global issues, build healthy relationships, and thrive in diverse environments, effectively contributing to their societies meaningfully on a wider scale for a more inclusive and sustainable future. These life-enriching competencies are essential not only for personal well-being but also for building inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable societies. So, there is a need to think of essential competencies and skills that 21st century learners need to cultivate to deal with the challenges posed by uncertainties and complexities of present society. This publication consists of 7 chapters on the diverse areas of psychosocial competencies for the global youth. Vibrant ideas of multidisciplinary community of educators, psychologists, researchers, policymakers, and youth development professionals from across the globe were brought together. Their diverse insights evidence based approaches, empirical findings, and innovative practices are captured in the chapters of this volume.
